INTERNATIONAL SWIMMING HALL OF FAME:
FEATURED IN ESPN MAGAZINE
Fort Lauderdale - When ESPN Magazine hits the newsstands this week, look for a photo of the
FINA Grand Prix Diving meet, at the Hall of Fame Pool, on the cover and more about the
International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF) in its story on objects that define the history of
sports.
"Photographer Svend Lindbaek was in Ft. Lauderdale to photograph Johnny
Weissmuller's swimming suit and the lane 4 starting block from which Mark Spitz won six of his
seven Olympic gold medals," said Bruce Wigo, President of the ISHOF.
Weissmuller's bathing suit, along with over 100 other pieces of aquatic memorabilia will
be on display at a special ISHOF exhibition in Shanghai, China next moth, during the XIV FINA
World Aquatic Championships.
Last year, the ISHOF was selected by the Travel Channel as the "Best Sports Museum" in the State of Florida and earlier this year was listed by the New York Times as one of the top
places to visit during weekend stay in Fort Lauderdale.

Through October, the ISHOF is featuring an exhibition on 100 Years of Swimming in
Fort Lauderdale that includes a special Jantzen Swimwear exhibit of 100 years of Swimwear:
From Bloomers to Bikinis. The Jantzen exhibit includes bathing suits worn by President Ronald
Reagan, Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell, as well as swimwear fashion worn at the time "Where the Boys Are" made Fort Lauderdale a Spring Break destination. Jantzen is a division of
Pery Ellis, Intl.
The International Swimming Hall of Fame is open 9 – 5 on weekdays and 9 – 2 on weekends.
