A California native, this young girl learned to swim in her family pool as well as in the Russian River in Sonoma County. She attended Mills College in Oakland, CA, where she was a member of the synchronized swimming club. Through the years, she continued swimming for pleasure and traveled all around the world. If there was a pool or a body of water, she always managed to find it.

It was not until 1987, at the age of 64 that Margery Meyer swimmer entered her first swim meet at the USMS Nationals at Stanford University. The following year she joined the Holmes Lumber Jax Team and competed in the 1988 FINA Masters World Championships in Brisbane, Australia. She set the first of her many FINA World Records as a member of two relays.

With the encouragement of her daughter and first coach,Marguerite, this Masters swimmer continued swimming for the next 22 years. In 1994, she and daughter, Marguerite, became two of the first women swimmers to join the Olympic Club in San Francisco.

Margery Meyer has been ranked in the FINA Masters Top 10 for 21 years. She holds 47 FINAMasters World Records in every freestyle event from 100 meters to 1500 meters, 19 long course and 28 Short Course. Margery has competed in four age groups, 65-69 through 80-84, gaining 76 number one FINAWorld Rankings. She attended 4 FINA World Championships (1988, 1994, 1998, and 2006) winning 11 gold, 5 silver and two bronze medals.
